The painting combines the brush strokes with the knife treatment for the face of the character. Thus giving the character a three dimensional effect. What does his gaze tells us? What are his inner thoughts? The religious motifs, colors, techniques contrasts and a mysterious door are adding drama and intrigue to this scene.

Obra de técnica mixta, combina el pincel con tratamiento de paleta en el rostro. De este modo el personaje parece situarse a la vez dentro y fuera de su entorno. ¿Qué nos dice su mirada? ¿Qué hay en su interior? El motivo religioso, el contraste de técnicas y colores y una misteriosa puerta añaden dramatismo y subrayan la intriga del tema.

“The bride” is another mysterious female character in which her tenderness struggles to survive. Is she actually the bride herself? How is she feeling? What does her glance tells us? All these are questions that do not have answers in words. You must look at her, contemplate about her, and let her speak to your heart.

The bride es otro misterioso personaje femenino en el que la ternura lucha por sobrevivir. ¿Es realmente la novia? ¿Qué siente? ¿Qué nos dice su mirada? Todo son preguntas que no tiene palabras como respuesta. Hay que mirarla, contemplarla, dejar que te hable...al corazón.

A rather mature man is sitting absorbed in his own inner world. The man is completely alienated to the world that immediately surrounds him. This work describes for us the complexity of life situations that can absorb us. This is a good example of the pure Santacana’s Conceptual Figurative style, one without any unnecessary items.

Un hombre de cierta edad, se sienta absorto en su mundo interior. Completamente ajeno al mundo inmediato que le rodea. Esta obra nos describe la complejidad de situaciones con que la vida nos puede envolver. Se trata de un buen ejemplo de estilo figurativo-conceptual, desnudo de elementos innecesarios el que Santacana nos propone.

A simple bouquet of flowers but with vibrant colors and intensity that brings us into the world of passionate flare that is characteristic of the Spanish culture. A disturbingly cold background serves as counterbalance.

Un sencillo bouquet de flores pero con un colorido y densidad que nos transmite un mundo de pasión característico de la cultura española. Un fondo con cierta nota de frialdad y orden sirve de inquietante contrapunto.

Obra de trazado rapido y expresivo, nos muestra con maestria el sufrimiento que lleva en su interior el ser humano.

En este caso un inmigrante africano en camino a una tierra nueva recuerda las tribulaciones de su periplo. El color del mar de fondo tiene atributos surrealistas que invaden la mirada del protagonista.

快速及附有表情的勾勒向我們展現人類內在的痛苦， 一個非洲移民走在新的陸地上，想起旅途的痛苦。盡頭海的顏色有着超現實主義的特色，占據了主角的目光。

Recuerdos

"Recuerdos" (size 8)

was the first painting of the Murtra Monastery period, it is called "Recuerdos" (Memories), it was impressive, it came out of the canvans by itself. Amazing.

The painting depicts the feelings of many immigrants that cross the Gibraltar Straits from Africa in small boats called "pateras," they cross illegaly the sea by night, and risk their lives in many ways. Some of them die other are caught by police patrols.. the once who survive have to face a total new life full of challenges...

You can see him remembering his experiences in the background "patera"...

New period in Barcelona

Hi, Here I am, in Barcelona for a few months...

I am painting in a XV Centry old Monastery called San Jeroni de la Murtra, in Badalona, justa a couple of miles away from Barcelona city.

The weather is cold, wither time, but sunny. I am enjoying the feeling of the old monks they were living there for centuries.

I Have been praying and also painting in a special place the Monastery has for it. I am goin to show you some of the paintings.
